A Cliche of Criticism…

without comments

James Panero succumbs to the la-z-boy cliche of lamenting contemporary criticism because it just doesn’t seem to stand up to what good old Clem and Harold churned out. Strange how the art looks different today too. Face it, Greenberg couldn’t get passed the tacked up canvas, and Rosenberg couldn’t think without armchair psychology. Theirs was the voice of a moment. But that, as they say (to risk another cliche), is history.
